At first glance, it may seem as though it has been a quiet 11 months since our last AGM.
However, in reality, it has been a busy and productive period, marked by several successful events and the completion of the first stage of our refurbishment.
Our ever-popular Bonfire Night was a great success, attracting well over 100 attendees. We made some changes to the layout, particularly in terms of diner flow and bar placement, which worked well—everyone was promptly fed and watered. The bonfire and fireworks were spectacular and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
In March, we hosted a lively Quiz Night, which saw excellent attendance from the Cartmel Fell community. The food was well received, and the quiz was both challenging and fun. A special thank you to Mike for organising such an enjoyable evening.
Most recently, we held our Spring Show just a few weeks ago. We were delighted to receive over 100 entries across 30 different classes, showcasing the incredible talent within our community. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of the day was the number of visitors who came to view the entries, enjoy refreshments, and buy a plant or two. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on what a warm and friendly community event it was.
Unfortunately, we have lost the weekly Post Office provision in the Hall, which is a disappointment. However, the Hall remains an active hub, currently hosting three regular group meetings and various private functions. We remain committed to putting on events that bring our community together.
We also continue to value and nurture our relationship with the Cartmel Fell Volunteers. Their help in managing and developing the beautiful allotments surrounding the Hall is greatly appreciated. Martin, please pass on our sincere thanks to everyone involved.
Looking ahead, we are excited to build on the success of our newly refurbished toilets and continue with further improvements within the Hall. There’s a long list of jobs to tackle, and we are eager to get started.
Finally, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all committee members for their time, energy, and enthusiasm. Your dedication is instrumental in helping our Hall - and our community - thrive and grow.
