The Parish Council, (the most local level of government), works with the District and County Councils. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meetings and have an opportunity at each meeting to address the Council about any subject concerning the parish.
The Cartmel Fell Volunteers are a welcoming group that meet most weeks for volunteering sessions and run additional activities and events in their Calendar.
They also have a Facebook page containing details of volunteering sessions.
The church was built in 1504 to save the scattered fellside community from a 7 mile walk to Cartmel Priory. More details are published on the Crosthwaite & Lyth website.
A leading example of a local community school with another outstanding Ofsted report for 2023, and an award-winning Headteacher, Matt Jessop.
Witherslack is at the South end of Cartmel Fell and has a village website - it has a well-stocked Community Shop.
Volunteers on Cartmel Fell organised the funding and dug the duct to bring Hyperfast B4RN broadband to our community. If you'd like to find out more, visit the B4RN website.
The History Society meets from September to April on the second Monday of each month. It has two group outings each year in May & June. See their Facebook page for more event details.
The Cartmel Fell Women's Institute meets on a Wednesday night of each month for activities and talks (except in August for an outing and December for a Christmas meal).

The Crosthwaite & Lyth website has a number of pages dedicated to local events in our area and has all the back issues of "Two Valleys Parish News" - the local community newsletter.
Levens is just across the Lyth Valley and has a village website explaining some of the facilities, including a well-stocked Village Shop.
