About the event

PEAT - Peninsula Environmental Action Together

Let’s Talk: The Future of Travel and Transport on the Cartmel Peninsula

PEAT workshops are being run during the Great Big Green Week (7th to 15th June 2025) to discuss the transport wants and needs of its 9 communities covering the 9 parish areas from Cartmel Fell to Allithwaite, Cartmel and Haverthwaite...

...and they are coming to Cartmel Fell to hear your ideas on Friday 13th June 1-3pm

About the project

Transport and travel are the most frequent concerns raised in our community conversations. Too often, the solutions we see are short-term and only make things less bad. But what if travel could be something we look forward to - safe, clean, easy, affordable, and accessible for all?

What if we imagine a future where getting around works for everyone.

At PEAT, we believe that those who live in and visit the Cartmel Peninsula know their community best. That’s why we’ve launched Let’s Talk: The Future of Travel and Transport on the Cartmel Peninsula, with support from Future Proof Cumbria (formerly CAfS).

This initiative will bring together voices from across the peninsula—young people, local councils, businesses, and residents alike. Whether you’re a student, a commuter, someone with limited mobility, or a business owner every voice matters. We want to connect with as many voices in our communities as possible.

With Cumbria exploring new devolution plans, integrated transport consultations and the investment into Barrow, we have a real opportunity to shape a smarter more connected Cartmel Peninsula.
