About the event

The next Cartmel Fell WI meeting is on Wednesday 7th June at 7.30pm and is a public meeting, open to all visitors.

TALK:

Have you ever heard of a Lengthsman?

The phrase "lengthsman" was coined in the 1700s for someone nominated to keep a "length" of road, canal or railway neat, tidy and passable.

The "DRAINSPOTTER", and Narrowboat owner, Archie Workman, will explain all about his life as a Parish Lengthsman.

Our visitors fee is £5 including tea, coffee and homemade cakes.

There’ll also be a raffle, and this month’s competition is “a useful hand tool”.

If you'd like to join us at the Parish Hall for this meeting, you'll be most welcome.

If you can, drop us a line at: cartmelfellwi@gmail.com to let us know you're coming!
